Passenger terminal and Modules

The airport of Palma de Mallorca consists of a Passenger Terminal building that communicates with four independent boarding modules: Module A, Module B, Module C and Module D.

The Passenger Terminal building consists of three levels open to the public and passengers (level 0, 2 and 4). Boarding Modules A, B and D disposes of two plants each one (level 0 and 1), while the boarding Module C, has only one level (level 1).

Due to its warm climate and its famous transparent waters, the island of Mallorca is considered an area of great tourist interest, so its passenger traffic is mostly international, especially during the summer season, with about 25 million passengers per year in total, a figure that only surpassed in Spain by Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport and the Barcelona-El Prat airport .
In general and by country data, Germany is the country that contributes with the most passengers, followed by Spain and the United Kingdom.

The airport of Palma de Mallorca is also popularly known as Aeropuerto Son Sant Joan.

Flight classification: Schengen and others

Flights are usually classified in three groups, depending on their origin or destination. Schengen, EU Non Schengen and third countries.

Schengen Associated Countries:

Flights, from or to countries which signed the Schengen Agreement.
Citizens of these countries may move freely across the interior borders. International Inter-Schengen flights as well as domestic flights are subject to the Schengen Agreement. The Schengen territory is composed by: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic Czech, Romania, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Non Schengen EU Countries:

Flights, from or to countries, belonging to the European Union, which did not sign the Schengen Agreement.
Citizens of the following countries may not move freely across the inter-Schengen borders: Ireland and Cyprus.

Third Countries:

Flights, from or to countries, not belonging to the European Union, which did not sign the Schengen Agreement.

Passenger Terminal - Palma airport

The Passenger Terminal building consists of three floors open to the public and passengers (level 0, 2 and 4), and communicates the interior of the enclosure with the exterior through the Arrivals hall on the level 0 with pedestrian access, and the Arrivals hall with access by road.
The Passenger Terminal also communicates the Departures hall (level 4) with the General Parking Building, by means of an aerial walkway, mechanized and covered, 260 meters long.

From the Boarding area of the Passenger Terminal, the boarding modules A, B, C and D can be accessed independently.

The Passenger Terminal at Palma de Mallorca airport has the following services:

Boarding area:

Palma airport terminal and modules map The access to the Boarding area (Modules) is via the Departures security filters, located on the 2nd floor, behind the check-in counters. Next to the security filters, there is also the Fast Lane / Fast Track (quick access to the boarding area). Once inside the boarding area, each module provides access to its respective boarding gates, with passport control if the destination requires it.

Boarding gates:

The Boarding gates are distributed throughout four independent boarding modules (Modules  A , B, C and D). You can find more information in the following tabs on this page, or in the Check in and Boarding gates section.

The airport has a total of 86 numbered Boarding gates (69 physical, some with double or triple numeration) throughout the four Boarding Modules, and a total of 25 fingers or jet bridges.

The airport has a single Arrivals hall located in the Passenger Terminal, regardless of the module to which the flight arrives.
Arrivals hall: level  0.

The airport has a single baggage claim area located in the Passenger Terminal, regardless of the Module to which the flight arrives.

Module A - Palma airport

Palma airport terminal and modules map Module A of Palma de Mallorca airport is the former Terminal A of the airport. The Module (also dock or concourse) is a separate block consisting of two plants - level 0 and 1-, both plants entirely dedicated to the Boarding area with their corresponding Boarding gates, reason why only properly documented passengers have access to this zone.
Module A is usually closed during the winter months, but can be opened to passenger traffic during those months depending on the needs of the airport.

Module A has the following services:

Boarding area:

Level 0 and level 1.
Domestic and international flight Departures, usually non-Schengen destinations, UK and Ireland, and third countries.

Module A is accessed from the 2nd floor of the boarding area of ​​the passenger terminal, after passing through security checks and through passport control if the destination so requires.

Boarding gates:
  • Level 0: 6 Boarding gates with the following numbering: A1-A2, A3-A4, A5-A6, A16-A17, A23-A24, A25-A26 and A27-A28.
  • Level 1: 8 Boarding gates with jet bridge and with the following numbering: A8, A10-A11, A12-A13, A14, A16-A17, A18-A19, A20-A21 and A22 (Total, 13 Boarding gates numbered).

Flights: Module A Arrivals

Domestic and international flight Arrivals.
Passengers disembarking in Module A should go to the baggage claim area of the Passenger Terminal.
Arrivals hall: The airport has a single arrivals hall located in the Passenger Terminal level 0, regardless of the module to which the flight arrives.

Modulo B - Palma airport

Palma airport terminal and modules mapModule B of Palma de Mallorca airport is the former Terminal B of the airport. The Module is a separate block consisting of two plants - level 0 and 1, both plants entirely dedicated to the Boarding area with their corresponding Boarding gates, reason why only properly documented passengers have access to this zone.
Module B is the smallest module and operates regional Air Nostrum flights with Menorca and Ibiza (Interislas), and some other cities of Spain. It is usually closed during the winter months, but can be opened to passenger traffic during those months depending on the needs of the airport.

Module B has the following services:

Boarding area:

Level 0 and level 1.
Regional flight Departures (usually Menorca, Ibiza and other Spanish cities).
Air Nostrum Ticket offices and information.

Module B is accessed from the 2nd floor of the boarding area of ​​the passenger terminal, after passing through security checks and through passport control if the destination so requires.

Boarding gates:

Level 0: 8 Boarding gates with the following numbering: B30, B31, B32, B33, B34, B35, B36 and B37.
The Boarding gates of Module B are on ground-level, so the module does not have jet bridge.

Module C - Palma airport

Palma airport terminal and modules mapModule C of the Palma de Mallorca airport is the largest of all the modules, and is located to the East of the airport. The Module (also dock or concourse) is an independent block consisting of a level (level 1), dedicated entirely to the Boarding area with their corresponding Boarding gates, so that only properly documented passengers have access to this zone.
Module C is usually used for flights to Schengen.

Module D - Palma airport

The Module (also dock or concourse) is a separate block consisting of two plants - level 0 and 1-, both plants entirely dedicated to the boarding area with their corresponding boarding gates, reason why only properly documented passengers have access to this zone. 
Module D is usually used for domestic and international flights, generally to Europe.

10 of these boarding gates have jet bridge.

Boardings using boarding gates odd-numbered are carried out by shuttle bus.
